Enhanced smartphone features, including touch controls, camera and GPS integration, make work in the field smarter.

VeBuIn (headquarters: Tsukuba, Ibaraki; Representative Director: Bhavik Shah), provider of the Jugaad workflow system, has released a major feature update designed to let users complete field reporting entirely on a smartphone. Going beyond a conventional workflow system, Jugaad now supports a broader range of field operations as a business app development tool that makes it easy to create and operate apps without code.

Background to development
Many clients have used Jugaad as a workflow system to streamline office tasks such as approval requests and various applications. However, the previous smartphone app relied primarily on keyboard input on a small screen and was not sufficiently optimized for the diverse reporting needs of field work.

This update strengthens dedicated input components that use smartphone-specific capabilities such as touch controls, the camera and GPS. As a result, in addition to office tasks, field reporting that was previously difficult to address can now be digitalized and visualized intuitively and smoothly.

This update brings major advances to Jugaad in the following areas.

1. Many new input components that work comfortably on smartphones
Expanded input components for text, dates, photos and location information, designed for use in the field.
Handwriting input is also supported, making full use of smartphone capabilities.

Camera integration: Write instructions directly on site photos by hand and use the recorded content in reports.
Handwritten signatures: Obtain a customer's confirmation signature directly on a smartphone screen, on the spot.
GPS (location information): Record the current location at the touch of a button to improve the reliability of reports.
Touch-focused UI: Complete tasks such as selecting dates and entering ratings through intuitive touch controls, without using a keyboard.

2. Enhanced PC apps: Integrated management of office and field operations in one tool
Input assistance and layout adjustment features have also been substantially expanded for creating web apps used on PCs. This combines detailed document creation on a PC with rapid information sharing on a smartphone.

3. A native app that works regardless of connectivity conditions
Jugaad's smartphone app is developed as a native app for smooth performance, working comfortably even at sites with poor connectivity. It supports a wide range of iOS and Android devices.

4. Support for reliable information sharing and effective use of information
Beyond simple data entry, the approval workflow feature allows reporting lines to be configured flexibly. Reports of near misses and problems are shared quickly and reliably with the relevant people, preventing delays in response.
Notifications can also integrate with LINE WORKS and Microsoft Teams to support smooth information sharing inside and outside the company. Accumulated data is automatically organized and visualized for use in trend analysis and decision-making.

5. More than 100 templates to start using immediately after adoption
As a no-code development tool, Jugaad makes it easy for anyone to build business apps, much like creating a presentation.
More than 100 ready-to-use templates, combining input forms and report layouts, are included as standard for daily reports, work reports, near-miss reports and more. Without configuring everything from scratch, you can customize them to your operations and start using them the same day.
